Brock researchers studying ticks across Niagara this summer

Results to be available later this summer

With tick populations growing across Ontario, Brock University researchers are studying six areas in Niagara to track and test blacklegged ticks - known carriers of Lyme disease.

The focus is on nymphal ticks, which are tiny and often go unnoticed, increasing the risk of infection.

Researchers say tick presence in Ontario has grown significantly since 2009.

The team emphasizes the importance of early removal to prevent illness. Results of the study will be shared later this summer.
