Arrest made in rock throwing incidents across Niagara

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a St. Catharines man in connection with a series of dangerous incidents where rocks were thrown at moving vehicles in Niagara.

Between June and August, police received multiple reports of rocks being thrown either from roadsides or overpasses onto passing traffic.

The incidents occurred on Highway 406 between Westchester Avenue and Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines, on the QEW near Mountain Road in Niagara Falls, and on Highway 58 near Pine Street in Thorold.

Following an investigation, 48-year-old Ammar Al-Zubaidi of St. Catharines was arrested. He is facing nine counts of mischief endangering life.
