The City of Welland has secured over $14,000 in grant funding from the Niagara Community Foundation to support the next phase of tree planting along the Kingsway in Dain City.
The funding continues the City’s efforts to restore the tree canopy after significant losses caused by the Emerald Ash Borer infestation.
This marks the second straight year of support from the Foundation, following last year’s planting of 70 large-caliper native trees.
With another 70 trees planted by City staff this November, the project has added a total of 140 native trees to the area, supporting Welland’s Environmental Stewardship goals.
