$1.5-million from reserves approved to start renovations
The Town of Pelham has approved $1.5 million in reserve funding to begin renovations at the Fonthill Branch Library.
The $4 million project, to be completed in two phases, will enhance accessibility, expand public space, and better serve the community.
Work begins this September with the installation of accessible-height, mobile shelving funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and library reserves.
Phase One, set to start construction in early 2026, will include accessible washrooms, a new front entrance, and an expanded program room.
Phase Two will follow once funding is secured, adding a makerspace, quiet study areas, and an elevator-accessible basement with meeting space and staff offices.
