One of the most impactful organizations in the Niagara Region is opening its doors this weekend.

Port Cares is celebrating 40 years in 2026, and as part of that is hosting an open house on Saturday.

Development Director Halley Irwin says it's a chance to help educate people on the wide variety of work Port Cares does.

Irwin adds that it's also a great chance to see behind the curtain.

Other highlights of the day include a first look at Port Cares' new greenhouse and children's activities. As part of its 40th anniversary, the organization is aiming to raise 40,000lbs of food for residents of Port Colborne and Wainfleet in need.

Located at 61 Nickel Street, the free event is open to everyone and donations will be accepted.
